The device listed here is Type 9907-028 and is part of the governor control unit based on the 505 and 505E microprocessors. These control modules are designed to operate turbine, turbogenerator and turboexpander modules. The 505/505E series was originally developed, produced and manufactured by the Woodward Company.

Founded in 1870, Woodward is a long-established industrial manufacturer in the United States and remains one of the leading industrial companies on the market today.

The 9907-028 unit is designed to control the steam turbine by operating a single extraction and/or admission of steam. It utilizes the segmented actuators of the steam turbine, one or two of which drive the steam inlet valve.

As with any 505 governor module, the unit can be configured in the field by a field operator. The menu-driven software is controlled and changed by an operator control panel integrated on the front of the device. The panel displays two lines of text, each of 24 characters.
