集散控制系统（DistributedControlSystem）又称计算机分布式控制系统，它是20世纪70年代中期迅速发展起来的，它是一个由过程控制级和过程监控级组成的以通信网络为纽带的多级计算机系统，它把控制技术、计算机技术、图像显示技术以及通信技术结合起来，实现对生产过程的监视、控制和管理。它既打破了常规控制仪表功能的局限，又较好的解决了早期计算机系统对于信息、管理和控制作用过于集中带来的危险性。它主要用于大规模的连续过程控制系统中，如石化、电力等。其核心是通信，即数据公路。

它的基本要点是：

（1）从上到下的树状系统，其中通信是关键。

（2）PID在中断站中，中断站联结计算机与现场仪器仪表与控制装。;

（3）是树状拓扑和并行连续的链路结构，有大量电缆从中继站并行到现场仪器仪表。

（4）信号系统包括开关量信号和模拟信号。

（5）DCS是控制（工程师站）、操作（操作员站）、现场仪表（现场测控站）的3级结构。
