While the TRICONEX 4201 demonstrated a number of compelling innovations on the exchange, I was particularly intrigued by the future vision of "infinite automation" on display. Can you walk us through the basic aspects of this new architecture and how it differs from the automated systems we've seen so far?

TRICONEX 4201 Unlimited Automation is our term for future Operational Technology (OT) architectures. This includes everything from smart field devices to automation to operations management software, which is all that makes today's production operations possible. We were able to do this because we saw the limitations of today's architecture and the technological advancements in the IT community in cloud computing and what we now call the edge.

The fact that we have a very layered stripe architecture, with software sometimes tied to very specific hardware, makes it difficult to seamlessly move data up and down between layers. We build these layers primarily as a security structure, or, as you've already mentioned, as form follows function. With digital transformation, people are moving beyond automation into areas such as reliability, sustainability and quality, which means more vertical data warehouses and their accompanying applications.
