The Triconex system is designed to provide error-free, uninterrupted control in the event of a hard component failure or transient failure from internal or external sources. Fault tolerance is achieved through a complete three-tier structure of the entire system, from the input module to the main processor to the output module. Each I/O module has three separate legs of the circuit. Triconex, a brand of Schneider Electric, provides products, systems and services for safety, critical control and turbomachinery applications. The Triconex system is based on patented Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) industrial safety shutdown technology.

These modules can be analog and/or digital, working separately or in hot reserve.

System cabinets: These modules can be compressed into one or more enclosures in a single cabinet.

Assembly cabinet: ADAPTS and regulates interface connections between field instruments and Triconex system cabinets.

Engineering Workstation (EWS) : This is used for programming, monitoring, troubleshooting, and updating.

The Triconex main processor communicates with TriStation 1131 applications to download, update, and/or monitor programs. These programs can be written in function block diagrams, ladder diagrams, or structured text. In addition, event sequence (SOE) logger software and diagnostic monitoring software are implemented.
