Prosoft LX56-MIM is a message manager for industrial communications. The manager was developed to be used strictly for devices that support the Controllogix platform.

The ILX56-MIM message manager services Allen-Bradley's ControlLogixl/O compatible processor for easy exchange of data with other message Manager protocol-compatible modules. The module is powered by 5 volts DC and can consume up to 1 amp when operating. The Prosoft LX56-MM uses two Ethernet ports on the module to establish data transfer messages between different systems. The device is designed to connect Rockwell Automation systems with systems from other manufacturers such as Siemens or Schneider Electric.

The module can be installed in the same chassis as the ControlLogix PAC, so it can transfer data directly through the backplane. This option to communicate across ControlLogix systems enables the message manager to easily "bridge" certain Rockwell Automation communication modules and protocols.

The LX56-MM has a jumper on the back of the module for setting purposes. The jumper is labeled J1. When you have this jumper set in the desired position, you can proceed to install and insert the ILX56-MM message manager into the ControlLogix chassis. This module is hot-swappable, so you can plug it in or remove it with the chassis powered on.
