The ProSoft M46-MBP Modbus Plus communication module is a single-slot rack/chassis-mounted communication module in the ProSoft family of automated communication modules that allows a simple interface between an SLC processor and any Modbus-supported device. The module provides input and output points between the Modbus Plus data network and the SLC backplane, and supports both master and slave protocols, making it easy to connect to devices connected on the Modbus Plus network.

It is mounted on the SLC chassis and has a maximum floor current of 800 mA at 5 volts DC. The M46-MBP supports up to 40O0 words of register space, and it utilizes a user-defined ladder logic programming language for simple data transfer between SLC processors and modules. It supports both slave and host configurations, and in slave mode, it receives broadcast commands from the host and returns communication error codes to the ladder logic. In host mode, it supports up to 100 configurable command lists, and it also returns communication error codes to ladder logic based on commands.

The MI46-MBP is configured via the RS-232 configuration port supported by RU45, with an R45 RS-232 connector for cabling, and it also has two RS-232/422/485 serial application ports of type R45. It is designed to be compatible with SLC 5/O2 or newer processors, and it comes with LED status indicators that show backplane transmission, application, module, and error status. The MV46-MBP has a specified operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and a storage range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit).
