Generator set operation panel

The generator set includes an operation panel, the interface between the engine function and the generator function. This allows the engine and generator to be controlled by a single component. The operation panel provides users with easy to view and use information, generator set control, alarm and monitoring. Many vendors offer panel options such as AC metering and alphanumeric display.

Single generator set components

MOTOROLA CPCI-6020TM Many types of components are available for generator setup and configuration. Systems can be basic (Figure 1) or complex, including remote monitoring and networking. Here is an example of a basic system component:

Generator set - consists of an engine and generator and is equipped with an operating panel.

• Operator panel - communicates with automatic transfer switch (for starting signal). Control engine and generator start-up, operation and monitoring activities.

• Automatic switch - Monitor the power supply to the switch panel. When there is a significant power drop or loss, the switch sends a signal to the generator set operating panel to start the engine.

• Switch panel - distributes power to various circuits.
