IPMC761-001 The WDT Enable bit is used to enable the watchdog timer function. This bit must be set to "1" for the watchdog timer to work. Note that since all registers default to zero after reset, the watchdog timer is always disabled after reset.

After this is reset in order, the application must re-enable the watchdog timer for the watchdog timer to continue running. Once the watchdog timer is enabled, the application must refresh the time during which the watchdog timer prevents generation or SERR within the selected timeout. The watchdog timer performs a write to the WDT Keepalive register (WKPA) to refresh. Data paperwork is irrelevant.

When enabled, reset the system by writing the Block Watchdog timer to the WDT Hold Register (WKPA), located at the address offset 0x0C at BAR2 within the selected timeout period. Data written to this location provides 32KB of non-volatile SRAM for the unrelated VMIVME-7750. This memory is mapped in a 32K address space, starting with the address in BAR1. This memory is readily available, supported from the PCI bus. When the power to the board is cut off, the contents of the memory are kept away.
