The VMIVME-2540 is developed and produced by GE's Industrial Automation production family. These models were later purchased by Abaco Systems. Known as VMIC/ GE Fanuc boards, the series is designed for a variety of applications in industrial production lines, such as CPU management and input/output communication.

The VMIVME-2540 is one of the specific modules of the VMIC/ GE Fanuc board with the ability to operate as an intelligent counter controller. The device is capable of counting up to 4 gigabytes of events. It is equipped with a series of 24 discrete output channels that can be programmed with various onboard jumper module options. These jumpers are capable of operating over a wide voltage range.
