The GE Universal Communications processor board DS3800HCMB is designed for quick installation in drives. The board has a modular connector at one end and a fixed rod at the other end. The GE General Communications processor board DS1HCMB also houses a microprocessor and 3,800 1-pin connectors. The board is equipped with 40 amber indicator leds and stands. The board also comes with a socket for an electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) module and 3 jumpers.

The brackets on the GE General communications processor board DS3800HCMB are plastic and do not require the use of screws to mount the subcard. Instead, the installer or technician presses the sub clamp against the bracket to secure it. To remove the child clip, the installer lifts one corner at a time from the bracket. The support prevents the daughter card from touching the board surface and interfering with the assembly and processing functions. Subcards are optional devices designed for motherboards.
