The GE drive control board DS3800HFPG1D1B has a modular connector for connecting to the drive and a retaining rod for securing the board to the drive. The GE drive control board DS3800HFPG1D1C also houses a microprocessor and multiple erasable programmable read-only (EPROM) modules. The board has a 34-pin connector that can be accessed from the front of the board. It also has test points and a 40-pin connector mounted on the board surface.

Another component on the board is a transistor-to-transistor logic (TTL) device. It serves as the interface logic between integrated circuits. Because the GE drive control board DS3800HFPG1D1B has a dedicated position in the board frame and occupies double the width, care must be taken when installing or removing it. The board is carried with two hands and can only be carried from the side edge of the board. This protects the components from accidental damage.
