Product description
GE manufactures the DS3800NEPA1C1B for use as a motor exciter power supply as part of the Mark IV Speedtronic series. The Mark IV is used for gas and steam turbine control. The Mark IV can be used to sequence turbines and their auxiliary equipment for fully automatic start-up, shutdown and cooling. Turbine protection against unsafe operating conditions is also part of the basic control system built into the Mark IV.
With two Raycom Electronics 44B379508-G02 modules connected, the DS3800NEPA1C1B tends to be vertically bulky boards. The modules are placed side by side, parallel to the short end of the board. The DS3800NEPA1C1B also uses the following components:
A jumper switch. The jumper can be set to NR or REV.
Four integrated circuits.
Nine large resistors (orange, white and gold bands) and several smaller resistors.
Nine large capacitors and several small capacitors.
One (male) terminal connector. This is a multi-pin connector.
Two straight pin connectors (male heads), one 6-pin and one 7-pin. The first is set to 2-2-2 mode and the second is set to 2-1-1 mode.
Four potentiometers.
A thermistor. Thermistors, also known as thermistors, lose resistance when they gain heat. They help with circuit protection and voltage regulation.
