The GE power exciter DS3800NEPB1G1F can only operate when installed in the power control module. The board must be connected to the motor exciter board. The connector JR on the DS3800NEPB1G1F board provides a speed voltage signal of up to 300 volts, as well as a field reference from the terminal board to the motor excitation board.

The connector JT on the DS3800NEPB1G1F board provides input for an immature shunt lead of 150mV and a positive armature voltage of 750 V. It also offers 750 volts of negative armature.

The control panel on the power conversion module enables the operator to control the operation of the board and also view the status of the module. The LED indicator indicates the control mode the device is using. The control modes available to the operator include start, acceleration, speed horsepower, and temperature.
