GE developed the DS3800NFCF1F1E as a turbo-controlled ignition board for the Mark IV series. The Mark IV is designed for gas turbine or steam turbine control to prevent these systems from operating under unsafe operating conditions. It can also automate certain procedures, such as starting and cooling.

The auxiliary board DS3800DFCF can be connected to the DS1NFCF1F3800E via 3,800 board-to-board connectors located in the left quadrant of the board. When the auxiliary board is in place, the DS1NFCF1F3800E has access to more components, including ammeters and jumpers. Four nylon pins support it when mounting DS<>DFCF.

The DS3800NFCF1F1E has 42 circuits. This includes a 400-bit static MOS RAM chip with internal address latches and 8ns minimum access time, a 4-bit up/down counter with fully independent clear inputs (forcing all outputs to low when high power is applied), and dual J-K negative edge trigger triggers.
