The 531X125SNHAFG1 is a turbine control board designed as part of a General Electric drive or exciter. This is a replacement component that can be used as a buffer plate. GE has made several different versions of the board for its various mechanical systems. Buffer boards come in a variety of sizes and designs, but they are all used to limit or "buffer" temporarily unwanted voltages in an electrical system. This voltage may be the result of current interruption, or it may be the result of electromagnetic interference. These voltage transients are suppressed by a buffer plate that provides a short-term current path rather than allowing arcing between the switch and/or relay.

The 531X125SNHAFG1 is a small rectangular board. It has little indentations on each side. The board has a large capacitor mounted near a corner. It is connected to the circuit board by an axial lead, followed by a zipper cable tie supported by two boreholes on the surface of the circuit board.
