The IS420ESWBH3A is a version of a usable unmanaged Ethernet switch designed and manufactured by General Electric for its Mark VIe turbine control system. Mark VIe's design allows it to manage individual turbines as easily and efficiently as an entire plant.

Depending on the needs of the relevant turbine system, the system can be built in simplex form or in TMR (Triple modular Redundancy) architecture. The IS420ESWBH3A is one of five available versions of the ESWB switch with 16 separate ports, each supporting 10/100Base-tx connectivity. The unit also offers 100 Mbps FX uplink and full duplex and half duplex auto-negotiation. The device is compatible with 802.3u, 802.3U, and 802.3x Ethernet. The module is built as a single unit with all ports on one side, eight in each row and two in each row.

Each port is numbered. In addition, each port is provided with its own LED indicator, allowing users to record the presence or absence of activity, links and speeds within that port. An LED indicator at the end of the Ethernet port is used to indicate power to the entire device, while other diagnostic leds are located at the other end of it to indicate activity.

The IS420ESWBH3A is usually mounted using DIN rails. The device can be installed in parallel or vertical configuration. However, if the device is to replace a previously installed 3rd square switch, it can also use established mounting brackets, whether they are for DIN rails or panels. The unit is designed with several screw holes to allow panel mounting options.
