The IC697CPM790 is a 64 MHz CPU manufactured by GE FANUC with computing power using 32-bit floating point and a microprocessor 80486DX2. The CPU uses single-slot programming software to perform configuration and programming in conjunction with Windows or MS-DOS.
The IC697CPM790 includes discrete inputs and outputs of up to 12K (mixed simplex mode only). It has flash memory dedicated to the operating system firmware, allowing firmware updates via a connection between the PC and the module serial port. The user controls the operation of the module by programming software or using the operating mode of the run/stop three-position switch. A memory protection key or software password locks configuration and program data.
The IC697CPM790 has four green leds that indicate the status of the CPU. Air cooling requires fan assemblies. The user can connect the bus sending module IC697BEM713 to the programmer to implement a parallel interface. A 15-pin Type D connector connects the serial port and is compatible with RS-485. During actual operation and power-on, the CPU verifies the rack configuration while its alarm function reports any deviations in the programming and/or actual configuration. The IC697CPM790 has a lithium battery that maintains calendar clock operation, data storage, and program storage.
