The GE Fanuc/VMIC VMIAC-5595 Gb/s Reflective Memory hub assembly is a hosted hub designed to operate with the GE Fanuc/VMIC 5565 series Reflective Memory real-time networking products. Reflective memory hubs can automatically bypass ports when they detect a loss of signal or a loss of effective synchronization mode, allowing other nodes in the network to remain operational.

Since optical ports use small form factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers, only the required ports need to be filled. The VMIAC-5595 SFP optical module can be a combination of multi-mode (short distance) or single-mode (long distance) optical modules.

This feature allows for cost savings and system optimization in small networks. For larger networks, several VMIAC-5595 components can be cascaded to allow an array of more than 256 nodes of managed hubs. Each port regenerates the serial optical signal, eliminating insertion losses and cable attenuation. Signal regeneration also reduces jitter.

The RS232 port provides the ability to monitor and control reflective memory networks via a simple PC serial port. The Ethernet port feature allows users to remotely monitor and control the hub IS220UCSAH1A running on the QNX operating system via a local area network (LAN) or Web browser. It has a Freescale 8349, 667 MHz processor. The board uses a power supply rated 18-36 V dc, 12 watts. The board can be used in a temperature range of 0 to 65 degrees Celsius and does not require a fan for cooling, even at large temperature ratings. The board is available for NFPA 1 class, Div. 2 applications.
