The IC660ELB912 is a GENI network interface board from GE Fanuc. It is designed as a daughter board in the user's microprocessor system. Users can connect the GENI to the motherboard in any CPU-type device that can read and write common shared RAM on the GENI. This device is called the host.

Although the RAM interface is optimized for the IBM PC bus, it easily ADAPTS to a variety of other types of cpus. Since it handles all data transfers between the host and the Genius I/O bus, GENI effectively frees the host. This allows the host to control remote I/O. It does this by using the capabilities of Genius I/O, such as high reliability and noise resistance. In addition, hosts can communicate with other hosts using the communication capabilities of Genius LAN.

In a sense, GENI is a universal controller that maintains initialization tasks and manages the failures of more than 30 other bus devices. Each device controls one I/O and GENI saves the latest images of each person. It can also communicate with other controllers through the use of global data, datagrams, and directional control data messages.

This GENI has a complex array of components on its single printed circuit board.

It uses the 6303 serial interface microprocessor to write information to the MIT chip. The chip manages the hardware interface of the bus and provides support functions. For example, it handles error checking, LED drivers, and timer functions. Transmit/receive circuits work closely with mit and bus transmit and receive signals.

This GENI uses dual-port RAM to exchange data. This was done between the 6303 microprocessor and the management microprocessor 64180. Since two processors run two separate systems, dual-port RAM ensures that they have equal access. This is controlled by a GAL that transfers memory to either processor on a byte by byte basis. The 64180 also has a separate 8Kb memory for its own use.

The user should install GENI using a gasket fixed to the motherboard. This is achieved by placing screws, brackets, or plastic PCB brackets into the four corner holes of the motherboard. Do not use any sticky products on the board.

It is important that the GENI motherboard is installed in a way that does not block airflow through the motherboard. Users should be careful not to install it within 1/8 "of any other board or component on the motherboard.

The GENI board requires a 5V DC power supply to run the logic power supply.
