The board is also equipped with 3 jumpers. The jumper has an ID printed on the surface of the circuit board. The ids are JP1, JP2, and JP3. When the original board is installed in the driver, the installer configures the board to meet the driver's requirements.

Jumpers enable the installer to set configuration values by changing the location of the jumpers. In most cases, the default position of the jumper is used and no further action is required by the installer. However, in some cases, the installer will change the position of the jumper based on the information available in the printed information provided with the board. In a 3-pin jumper, the jumper covers 2 pins at a time.

For example, a jumper might cover pins 1 and 2 or pins 2 and 3. To move the jumper, grab the jumper with your thumb and forefinger and pull it off the pin. Then, align the jumper with the new pin and slide it into place. Some jumpers are not used for configuration boards and have only one support position. In this case, the alternate location is used by the manufacturer for product testing to test a specific circuit or function.
