March 7, 2010 Model TC3844 T1/E1 and T3/E3 Ethernet gateways convert Ethernet data into framing or non-framing T1/E1 or T3/E3 circuits provided by service providers, microwave links, or existing SONET/SDH loops. Typical applications include deploying multi-service applications to remote sites that are hard to reach or have no access to fiber.

It is also used to add redundant data paths for mission-critical applications, as well as to extend Ethernet backhaul networks. Key features include IEEE 801.p QoS with four queues and VLAN tags. Additional features include fault management, automatic negotiation of flow control, statistics monitoring, network time protocols, remote firmware upgrades, and temperature and power monitoring. Extreme temperature (-40°C to +80°C) versions are optional and comply with relevant industrial and environmental standards, including NEMA TS-2 and IEC 61850-3 IEEE 1613.

The TC3844 is often used as one of 11 hot-swaddable and self-configuring interface card options for JumboSwitch Industrial Gigabit Ethernet modular switches. JumboSwitch offers all the popular features and functions of a standard Ethernet switch, but differs in that it Bridges Ethernet /IP, VoIP, and TDM-over-IP over a redundant Gigabit Ethernet fiber backbone.
