Cisco Secure ACS provides policy control for the Cisco self defense network architecture, which protects your enterprise by identifying, preventing, and adapting to threats from within and outside your company.

Cisco Secure ACS is a highly scalable, high-performance access policy system that centralizes device management, authentication, and user access policies and reduces the administrative and support burden of these functions. The Cisco Secure ACS rules-based policy model enables different authorization rules to be applied under different conditions, so policies are context-sensitive and not limited to authorization determined by a single group member. Integration capabilities allow information from external databases to be directly referenced in access policy rules, and attributes can be used in policy conditions and authorization rules.

Cisco Secure ACS has the ability to centrally collect and report activity and system health information to fully manage distributed deployments. It supports active operations such as monitoring and diagnostics, as well as passive operations such as reporting and troubleshooting. Advanced features include deployment-wide session monitors, threshold based notifications, permission reporting, and diagnostic tools.
