对于串级控制,复合控制等较复杂的控制功能,常规的组合式单元仪表的作法是采用硬接线将所需信号引到仪表的计算单元,并参与控制计算。而对于SLC来讲,既可以通过硬接线引入所需信号,又可以通过微处理器之间的通信获取所需信号,后一种方式在控制系统中被称为“引用”。
与模拟技术相比,数字技术在控制功能方面有了极大的提高,它可以完成各种复杂的计算和智能化的处理,另外,在人机界面上也比模拟仪表有了革命性的改变。在仪表控制系统中,所有的显示单元、操作单元、给定值设定单元都安装在仪表盘上,而且是每一个检测控制点都有自己相应的显示、操作、设定单元。如果系统比较庞大,检测控制点很多,则需要面积很大的仪表盘,这给观察现场和进行操作带来了很大的困难。为了减小仪表盘的面积,很多仪表控制系统采取了密集安装方式,按照生产设备的工艺将仪表进行分区安排,这样虽然可以减小仪表盘的面积,使人的操作可以在较小的、手眼可达的范围内进行,但非常不直观,人必须记住每个仪表盘上的单元在实际生产设备上是对哪一部分进行显示和操作的,稍有疏忽,就会产生失误。
