The latest FR-E800 inverter family offers a variety of networking and high-performance predictive maintenance through artificial intelligence and built-in corrosive gas alerts. Mitsubishi Electric has released a highly flexible family of compact inverters with several built-in networks, including TSN(Time Sensitive Network), to support the needs of smart factories. The FR-E800 uses artificial intelligence to reduce downtime with its world-first extended predictive maintenance capabilities 1 Corrosive Gas Alarm System2. The inverter also enables high performance control of induction and permanent magnet motors to a safety integrity level (SIL) of 3Ple.

The FR-E800 series integrates multiple communication methods without the need for tabs for increased flexibility. The standard supports major industrial Ethernet, including CC-Link IE TSN. Two Ethernet ports supporting line, ring, and star topologies also increase network flexibility. Enhanced predictive maintenance, the inverter has the industry's first corrosive gas environment detection circuit. Combined with Mitsubishi Electric's drives AI diagnostic technology, this helps reduce overall downtime by identifying and resolving the causes of failures early, without requiring specialized skills. To maintain safety and productivity, the drive implements SIL2 Pld and 3PLe. Safety features are standard and require no encoder, including Safe Torque Off (STO), Safe Stop 1 (SS1), Safe Brake Control (SBC) and Safe Speed Monitoring (SSM).

The built-in PLC function configured through the FR-Configurator2 software provides enhanced custom control. Multiple inverters can be controlled from a single host, eliminating the cost of an external PLC. The FR E800's autotune can be used with surface permanent magnets (SPM), internal permanent magnets (IPM), and future synchronous reluctance motors, and provides maximum flexibility by reducing spare parts inventory. Supported control modes include closed-loop vector control (with encoder), true sensorless vector control (without encoder), and sensorless positioning.
