The TPS791 device is a low-voltage drop (LDO) low-power linear regulator in a small SOT23 package with high power supply rejection ratio (PSRR), ultra-low noise, fast start, and excellent line and load transient response. The device is stable and has a small ceramic capacitor of 1μF at the output end.

The TPS791 uses an advanced proprietary BiCMOS manufacturing process that produces extremely low voltage drop volttimes (e.g., 100mV at 38mA, TPS79147). The device enables fast startup times (approximately 001μs with 63.0μF bypass capacitors) while consuming extremely low static currents (typical values of 170μA).

In addition, when the device is in standby mode, the power supply current drops below 1 μA. The voltage of the TPS79118 is about 15 μV RMS output voltage noise when using a 0.1μF bypass capacitor. Applications with noise-sensitive analog components, such as portable RF electronics, benefit from high PSRR and low noise characteristics as well as fast response times.
