The 57C554 is an AutoMax remote I/O Shark interface module. The module was originally manufactured by Reliance Electric and at one point may have been manufactured by ABB and Baldor Reliance. This card is no longer produced and may be a bit difficult to find. AX Control makes every effort to ensure that they are kept in stock as refurbished or new surplus parts. The module can also be found under Part number 0-57554.

The 57C554 is used to connect the Shark Remote rack to the AutoMax remote I/O network. It can be connected to the backplane of the Shark remote rack using a built-in microprocessor that helps with basic buffering circuitry and timing. The power supply for the logic circuit on this card is provided by the rack to which it is connected. The rated power supply voltage is +5 VDC. There is also a different power supply rated +24 VDC and adjusted to +12 VDC, which is mounted on the rack for the module's I/O network.

There's something on the panel of this little card. It has two green LED indicators labeled CPU OK and COM OK. There is a drop digit dial in the center of the panel. The card also has a female RS-232 9-pin d-shell serial connection port labeled "Network". There are two small clips on the panel to help install and remove cards from rack storage devices.
