The functionality of the new PC-L984-785 when used as an additional register controller is similar to that of the 984-785, with status RAM sizes ranging from 12.5k to optionally 32k or 64k words, and the controller provides more reference than any existing Modicon PLC.

The PC-L984-785 adds a user logic area to expand the amount of programmable relay logic. In a PLC, it is easier to rearrange the memory to achieve a programmatically loadable dx. PC-L984-785 can now be programmed in alternative languages (such as Manufacturing State Language, or C).
