The enhanced bidirectional multiprotocol data transceiver provides bidirectional transmission of multiprotocol data over one or two optical fibers. The S711D model has multi-mode operation, while the S7711D model operates on a single-mode fiber.

Data conversion

The device also has a unique data conversion function that allows the input of one data format and the output of a different format. The data format is selected during installation and can be easily changed in the field with a rotary switch.

SMARTS™ diagnostic technology provides a wide array of system status leds. The integrity of the data path can be tested with the built-in data transfer test generator. There is no need to connect to external data devices.
