The BC810 unit consists of two basic parts: the substrate (TP857) and the power/logic board. The substrate is where the connectors that connect the CEX bus to the external power supply are located. It is grounded to the DIN rail through the metal parts of the housing. The board also has an external power voting diode and fuse. The power and logic board contains +3.3V converters, logic, drivers for CEX bus interconnections, and connectors for interconnect cables.

The BC810 can be used with PM857, PM861A, PM862, PM863, PM864A, PM865, PM866, PM86A, PM867, and PM891.

In a fully redundant system with two interconnected BC810 and primary/backup CPU pairs, the BC810 supports online CPU backboard replacement without interfering with CEX traffic. If the BC810 must be replaced, stop all services on the connected CEX segment.

The CEX bus is used to extend vehicle communication ports with communication interface units. Redundant communication interfaces can also be used on the CEX bus. The CEX bus interconnect unit BC810 is used to increase the availability of the CEX bus by dividing it into separate segments. This improves the availability of systems with redundant communication interfaces.
