The 6U VME64x CHAMP-AV IV drives demanding DSP applications with up to 40 GFLOPs of peak computing power. Each of the board's four processing nodes consists of a 1.25GHz 7447A/7448 processor, up to 512 MB DDR-250 SDRAM(2GB/ SEC), and two 100 MHz 64-bit PCI-X interfaces. The AltiveC-based DSP engine also features Curtiss-Wright's industry-leading QuadFlow architecture.
To provide maximum multiprocessing application performance, the motherboard's QuadFlow architecture supports four simultaneous node-to-node transfers to deliver 32GB/ SEC peaks. Each of the four nodes transmits data to adjacent nodes at peak speeds of up to 1.6 GB/ s. Every processing node of the CHAMP-AV IV is equipped with Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. System extensions on CHAMP-AV IV are supported by two PMC sites compatible with PCI-X interfaces.
Each extension site supports the latest PCI-X specification and supports 64-bit /100MHz operation while maintaining compatibility with traditional 33MHz and 66MHz PMC modules. The CHAMP-AV IV's peak I/O bandwidth of up to 1.6 Gbyte seconds delivers throughput that matches the DSP processing power of its quad-core 1.25GHz 7447A/7448 processor. Both PMC sites on Champ-AV IV support low-voltage differential signals (LVDS) for backplane connectors to support the use of high-speed serial switch interconnect technologies such as Curtiss-Wright's StarFabric-based StarLink PMC and Fibre Channel PMC modules. The board provides a high-speed connection to the backplane, eliminating the need for front panel wiring harnesses and improving the maintainability of the system. Software Support CHAMP-AV IV is supported by Curtiss-Wright's Inter-Processor Communication Library (IPC)
