The protective relay REX 521 is designed for the protection, control, measurement and monitoring of medium voltage power grids. Typical applications include incoming and outgoing feeders and substation protection. Protective relays are provided with excitation inputs from conventional current and voltage transformers. Also a hardware version with input current and voltage sensors is available.

The protective relay is based on a multiprocessor environment. The HMI includes an LCD to display different views, make local use easy, and inform users by indicating messages. Modern technology has application software solutions in both hardware and software.
