To change the IP address configuration, select the menu option Control-Change Network Settings. Communication (CAN) Isolated CAN ports can be used for general communication as well as single or redundant distributed control. Compatible devices include WoodwardRTCnet nodes, LINKnet HT nodes, DVP valve products and other third-party devices. A removable latching connector plug is provided for field wiring.
Network terminals: The CAN network must include 120 terminal resistors at each end of the trunk. Network topology: daisy-chain connections between multiple devices are recommended. Any dropped connections between the equipment and the trunk should be as short as possible, much less than 6 meters. It is recommended to design a network backbone less than 100 meters, with a maximum drop length of less than 39 meters.
Important: For 1 Mbit/sec communication, each tap cable is required to be less than 1 meter and as short as possible. In order to achieve robust communication performance, CAN cabling requires a bare, unshielded cable segment present at the patch board. The length of the exposed CAN wiring must be limited to the distance from the shield end to the patch board.
The CAN shield is terminated to the chassis via a capacitive resistor (grounding network) which is designed as the Flex500/505 hardware product. While shielding must also be in the network for Woodward devices, direct grounding means being located at the main device end because it exits the main device's cabinet.
