PT-40系列可应用于POS收款台、厨房终端、工厂内制造生产线、配送系统等，作为操作终端的控制器，灵活运用于各种应用。因为产品构成简单，实现了低价格化。配合各种各样业务现场的需求，提升CPU的高速化、变更液晶屏尺寸或分辨率、变更触摸屏的方式、追加接口等，能够灵活应对客户的定制要求。已经取得了CE/VCCI(*2)的规格认证。

产品的OS采用了Windows Embedded Compact 7系统，不必大幅度更改Windows CE上的软件，利用较低成本即可更换终端设备。以往作为Windows CE终端使用的POS收款机、厨房显示器、轻便型客户端、业务用移动终端等，无需大幅度修改软件，用较低成本就可完成产品的更新换代。
