The order can be modified by highlighting the devices and, using the <+> or <-> keys, moving them into the desired order in the stack. Devices can disable booting by highlighting a specific device and pressing Shift 1. < Enter > Expand or collapse the device with a + or - symbol next to it.

This appendix provides users with the information needed to develop custom software for VMIVME-7698 applications. The CPU board on VMIVME-7698 cannot be deleted in the BIOS. It must be used during the initial boot cycle. Custom applications, such as modified operating systems, can only start running the BIOS after CPU initialization.

VMIVME-7698 will allow the user to either keep the current BIOS configuration or change this configuration to be more user-specific, but this change can only be made after the initial BIOS boot cycle has completed. The block diagram in Figure D-1 on page 109 illustrates that the VMIVME-7698 emphasizes input/output functionality, including the PCI to VMEbus bridge. The circled number in the upper left corner of the function block refers to the appropriate data book required for the function block programming. There are two areas on the VMIVME-7698 that users must be familiar with covering the initial BIOS configuration. These include device addresses and device interrupts.
