Allen-Bradley 1784-PKTX is a network interface card that can be installed directly to the Peripheral Connection Interconnect (PCI) port of a personal computer. The card supports PCI bus version 2.3 and allows the host to connect to Data Highway Plus (DH+), remote I/O (RIO), or DH-485 communication networks. For other operating systems, user-specific drivers must be created. The module uses RSLinx PKTx drivers for devices connected to DH+ or DH-485 networks, and can be connected to DH+ devices using a 10-foot (3.2 m) CP12 cable with a 3-pin Phoenix end with a switchable terminal resistor. In addition, the module uses the 1784-CP14 cable, which is a 6-pin Phoenix connector with a switchable terminal resistor for connecting SLCS on the DH-485 network. The 1784-PKTX has different connection lengths and corresponding transmission rates, with communication rates of 57.6K bit/s at 10,000 feet, 115.2K bit/s at 5,000 feet, and 230.4K bit/s at 2,500 feet. At 4,000 feet, the DH-485 network has connection rates of 1,200 bits/SEC, 9,600 bits/SEC or 19,200 bits/SEC, and the module has an LED status/diagnostic indicator per channel, with bus communication conforming to local PCI specifications. The 1784-PKTX module operates in a temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit), tests relative humidity of 5 to 95%, is condensation free, and is rated to withstand 30 grams of operating shock and 2 grams of vibration from 10 to 500 Hertz.
