The 1769-IF16C features sixteen (16) single-ended input channels for connecting field instruments to provide a 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA analog current signal to the module's input channel.

The 1769-IF16C can be used as an interface for field instruments, such as transmitters, controllers; Accepts feedback signals from variable frequency drives (VFDS), regulator valves, panel meters, data loggers and similar devices. It can also be used to receive regulated output signals from signal isolators or separators.

The 1769-IF16C has an internal sign-Delta analog-to-digital (ADC) converter. The converter converts the received analog signal into digital data with a resolution of 16 bits when configured as unipolar and 15 bits when configured as bipolar. The module accepts a full scale analog input signal range of 0-21 mA and 3.2-21 mA.

The 1769-IF16C does not require calibration. By configuring the input filter, the module can eliminate noise and ignore unimportant changes.
