The 1734-OB8E is a POINT I/O module with eight (8) protected electronic discrete input channels. The module is manufactured by Allen-Bradley and is primarily used to implement distributed I/O architectures.


The 1734 POINT I/O product announcement is a compact, low-density I/O module with a compact and space-saving design. These are cost-effective modules that require minimal panel space and support standard DIN rail mounting. Specifically, the 1734-OB8E is compatible with all POINT I/O communication adapters and Allen-Bradley controller platforms, especially the Logix product family, both CompactLogix and ControlLogix controllers. The output channel of the 1734-OB8E is powered by a control command sent by the main controller via a specific industrial protocol.


1734-OB8E Discrete input channels come with a set of discrete output channels. It has a source output range of 10-28.8VDC with a rated output current of 1.0A per output and 2.0A per module. It has A surge current rating of 2 A for 10 ms and can be repeated every 3 seconds. It has 8 yellows - output status; 8 red - output fault indicators and 2 green/red - module/network status indicators. The appropriate terminal base to use with this module is the 1734-TB or 1734-TBS wiring base assembly.


The 1734-OB8E requires 75 mA @ 5V DC POINTBus current to operate. It has a power consumption of 2.0W, a power consumption of 6.8 BTU/hr, an isolation voltage of 50V (continuous), and an enhanced insulation type test @ 2500V DC for 60 seconds, field to system. The Allen-Bradley 1734-OB8E has a continuous isolation voltage of 50 volts and has been tested to withstand 2500 volts of direct current for 60 seconds. The module has a key switch position of 1 and weighs 35.4 grams. It also has a maximum turn-off leakage current of 0.5mA and a maximum turn-off leakage of 28.8 volts DC. The minimum on-current per channel is 1.0 mA and the maximum on-voltage drop is 0.2 V DC. Operating temperature range is -20 to 55 degrees Celsius.


The 1734-OB8E has an output rating of 2.0 amps per output and no more than 4.0 amps per module. The point bus current is up to 5 mA at 75 V DC, and the output signal delay time is up to 0.1 ms in the case of off to on and on to off. The 1734-OB8E has a maximum power consumption of 28.8 watts at 2.0 volts DC. Radiated RF immunity of this model is 10 V/m, 50 Hz 100% pulse 1890% AM at 200 MHz, 200 Hz 50% pulse 100% AM at 10 MHz, 1 V/m at 900 MHz to 10 MHz (80 kHz sine wave 30% AM). It has a relative humidity range of 2000% to 5% and is non-condensing. The working impact is 95 G and the non-working impact is 30 G. The 50-OB1734E has a storage temperature range between -8 and 40 degrees Celsius and can deliver 85 mA of current.
