Allen-Bradley 1756-F8H is a HART analog module belonging to the ControlLogix system. It requires a 36-bit spring-clamped RTB or detachable junction box housing, which can be 1756-TBCH or 1756-TBS6H, and is compatible with HART5, 6 and 7. Eight differential voltage or current inputs are available for this module, with one HART modem per module.
The 1756-IF8H input module receives the signal from the process value transmitter and then converts it into the corresponding measured value for use in the Logix controller. The 1756 IF8H using the Studio 5000 Logix Designer has three data formats for you to choose from: analog only, Analog and HART PV, and analog and HART by channel. If you want the members of the tag to be arranged like the members of a non-HART analog input module, you should choose the analog and HART PV formats. Analog values are clustered at the end of the label, making it easy to view all eight analog values simultaneously. However, if you want to group the status, analog values, and device status of each channel in a single label, you should choose the analog and HART by channel formats. This will make it easier for you to view all the data related to your field devices. Using this module, you can implement emulation and HART connections in one module. HART commands can be transmitted with 1756-IF8H as unscheduled messages.
Additional features of the 1756-IF8H include multiple current and voltage input ranges, real-time sampling, process alarm, off-line detection, module filtering, underrange and overrange detection, rate alarm, and high-speed addressable remote sensor (HART) communication. The 1756 IF8H each channel has a variable operating range in the module. Options include -10 to 10 volts, 0 to 5 volts, 0 to 10 volts, 0 to 20 MA, and 4 to 20 MA, the latter range used by HART instruments. The module has a resolution range of 16 to 21 bits. Baseboard voltage and current ratings are 5.1 V DC, 300 MA, 24 V DC and 135 mA for a total baseboard power of 4.77 watts. Voltage consumption is 3.21 watts and 4.01 watts of current, and it also has a maximum overvoltage protection of 30 volts DC(voltage) and 8 volts DC(current).
