The 3500 rack can accommodate one or two power supplies (any combination of AC and/or DC), either of which can power the entire rack. If two power supplies are installed, it will act as a backup to the main power supply. When two power supplies are installed in a rack, the lower power supply acts as the primary power supply and the upper power supply acts as the standby power supply. As long as two power supplies are installed, removing or inserting either power module will not interrupt rack operation.
