Function description
3500/20 is a framework interface module designed and developed by Bently Nevada. The main interface of the 3500 framework is the Framework Interface Module (RIM). It supports proprietary protocols for configuring racks and retrieving machine data. RIM must be placed in rack slot 1. (Next to the power supply). RIM supports compatible Bently Nevada external communications processors such as TDXnet, TDIX, and DDIX. Although RIM performs some functions shared by the entire rack, it is not part of the critical monitoring path and has no impact on the normal operation of the overall monitoring system. Each frame needs one rim.

The 3500 system requires the TMR version of RIM for three-mode redundancy (TMR) applications.
In addition to all standard RIM features, TMR RIM also performs a "Monitor channel comparison." Implement monitor voting in the 3500 TMR configuration using the Settings specified in Monitor options.
TMR RIM uses this method to continuously compare the output of three (3) redundant monitors. If TMR RIM detects that information from one of the monitors is no longer within a predetermined percentage range of information from the other two monitors, it flags that monitor as an error and logs an event in the system event list.
